Local Scholarships for Moultonborough Students

Local scholarships are those provided by businesses, companies or programs within the Lakes Region Area. These are the scholarships that hit closer to home for MA students. They provide funds for specific degrees, 2 & 4 years Colleges/Universities, and Technical/Community Colleges and even a few for the students that wish to pursue the unconventional route.



Begin early and read through the descriptions to find the scholarships that best fits your plans. Make note of the application deadline and gather the required information (financial statements, personal & educational references and essays).

Lakes Region Food Pantry Scholarship:

Lakes Region Food Pantry is happy to offer area high school students the opportunity to apply for a $2.000 scholarship toward higher education. Awards of this scholarship are based on volunteering and the impact that community service makes on the student. We know it's been a difficult time and would encourage seniors to include all four years of high school service. Applications are available in the MA Guidance office.

Frank S. Lord/UNH Scholarship:

The will of Frank S. Lord, a prominent Ossipee, N.H., businessman for many years, established an educational fund in 1951 in memory of his parents, Francis Hubbard Lord and Hannah Blaisdell Lord. A varying number of renewable awards are made to students from Carroll County. However, the students need not have necessarily attended preparatory school in Carroll County, nor in the State of NH. "Worthy boys and girls who are without personal or family means to secure such education as is provided by the said University.." are eligible ".. for each of the four years."

Lakes Region Builders & Remodelers Scholarship:

The Lakes Region Builders & Remodelers Association have been awarding educational scholarships and high quality tools to students for decades. Each year, the scholarship committee reviews the applicants and awards Education scholarships for outstanding individuals preparing for a career in construction or trades fields. The money is applied directly to offset higher education tuition costs. In addition, the committee awards special "Tool- Box" or Golden Hammer Awards to students who will be going directly into the trades after high school. These students, along with the support of their teachers, go on a shopping trip to a local hardware store and select a few quality tools that help start off their careers in trades! Inter-Lakes Children’s Charities: (Formally known as Meredith Kiwanis Club)This scholarship is available to high school seniors from Inter-Lakes and Moultonborough Academy. John “Chief” Curran Memorial Scholarship: New this year, we are offering one $1,000 scholarship to one graduate from Moultonborough Academy OR Inter Lakes HS. To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be seeking higher education in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement. This new scholarship is in memory of John Curran, a long time member of the Meredith Kiwanis that passed away in 2022. Applications can be found in the Guidance office. The deadline is April 1, 2024. Diane K. Kline Memorial Scholarship Fund

The DKKMS will award a scholarship up to $1000.00. The Fund's mission is to support students from MA so they may educate and better themselves in order to build a stronger community. Moultonborough Academy Student Council Scholarship:

The MA Student Council will award three (3) $500.00 scholarships to a MA senior who has earned a GPA of 3.0, and has participated in at least one extracurricular activity at MA. Applications can be found at the MA Guidance office.

Hearts and Hands Thrift Shop 2023 Scholarship:

This $ 2,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Moultonborough Academy senior who is going onto post- secondary education, including but not limited to, a vocational/technical school. This scholarship will be awarded to a hardworking (not necessarily on the honor roll) student who demonstrates strong community service, volunteerism and a willingness to help others. This scholarship is not based on financial need. The award is to be given for Freshmen Year, Second Semester, based upon completion of all first semester courses with a GPA of 2.0 or greater. The award money will go directly to the school, not to an individual. Applications can be found in the MA Guidance office.

MVSB/James D Sutherland Memorial Scholarship:

The Meredith Village Savings Bank will award the James D Sutherland Memorial Scholarship to a Moultonborough Academy graduate who will start college in the fall. Moultonborough Women's Club: We strive to promote civic, educational and social activities. The Club has over 100 members who actively network and fund raise for the community needs of the Moultonborough Area. The scholarship is open to Moultonborough residents. Center Harbor Congregational Church Scholarship:

The Center Harbor Congregational Church will offer scholarships to current graduates from Moultonborough, Meredith or Sandwich. The $500 scholarships will be presented to students who demonstrate community involvement. The application is available in the MA Guidance office or Download Here.

Moultonborough United Methodist Church Outreach Scholarship: MUMC will award (2) $500.00 scholarships this year. Applicants must be a graduating senior in good standing from Moultonborough Academy pursuing higher education at an accredited College/University OR Vocational/ Trade School Program. ILMA Football Boosters Scholarship: This scholarship is for students who participated on the ILMA Football team and is a senior at Inter-Lakes Middle High School or Moultonborough Academy. Please send a 300+ word essay about how your participation on the ILMA Football Team has influenced you and helped shape who you are today. Applications are available at the MA Guidance office.

Jennifer Lively Memorial Scholarship:

Awarded by EM Heath, Inc. to one MA graduating senior each year. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, scholastic achievement and extracurricular involvement. The application is available in the MA Guidance office. The deadline: April 18, 2025. CLOSED

Moultonborough Lions Club Scholarship:

The Moultonborough Lions Club is proud to raise money through their annual raffle as well as to donate money from the Bicentennial Trust Fund to establish scholarships for local high school seniors. Each Spring, guidance counselors from Moultonborough Academy, Kingswood Regional High School, and Inter Lakes High school receive applications from the Moultonborough Lions Club for students who reside in Moultonborough, Sandwich, Tuftonboro, and Center Harbor. Scholarships are for current seniors who plan to attend a two or four-year college in the coming September. The scholarship money is for the second semester, and the scholarship recipients need to provide the Lions Club with proof of second semester attendance and first semester grades before the monies are sent. Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an organization which works with schools, families, and the community for the betterment of the lives of all children.The Moultonborough PTA will award $1000 Scholarships to graduating seniors from Moultonborough Academy. Meredith Rotary Club Scholarship:

Meredith Rotary Club, as one of many programs, offers scholarships to high school seniors who live within the Inter-Lakes and Moultonborough school districts. Successful applicants may be granted awards in varying amounts from $500 to a maximum of $2,000.00 each. Applications can be found in the MA Guidance office.

Lakes Region Visiting Nurses Scholarship: Since our inception in 1923, Lakes Region Visiting Nurse Association has been committed to offering high-quality, personalized and therapeutic healthcare services to our community. Our dedicated team makes approximately 40,000 home visits each year, delivering responsive and compassionate care right to our residents' doorsteps. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, we strive every day to improve and sustain the quality of life for those we serve. This year, we celebrate a century of heartfelt service at the Lakes Region Visiting Nurses Association (LRVNA); by offering an enhanced Scholarship Program. This new program offers up to three (3) $1,500 scholarships to graduating seniors from LRVNA’s service area high schools.

• Applicants must be a high school graduating senior in the current year and a resident in one of the communities in LRVNA’s service area.
• A regionally accredited educational program is one which leads to a formal certification or licensure qualifying the individual for entry into the healthcare field.
• The healthcare field shall be consistent with the health-related efforts of LRVNA.

Against All Odds Scholarship: One (1) student will be rewarded with a $3000 check prior to graduation. The check will be written in the recipient’s name and received on the night of the senior banquet. This individual will be the first recipient of the Against All Odds Scholarship, setting a benchmark for others to reach for. This is a need-based scholarship. No resume, recommendations, or transcripts needed.

Just an essay is needed. Application information can be found in the MA Guidance office.

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who will be pursuing a major in the trades at any 2-4 year program full-time. Jennifer Solar Whalen Memorial Music Scholarship: This scholarship is open to high school music students in the north country area who play a brass instrument and plan to pursue a college curriculum, majoring or minoring in music. The WSC is a community-oriented organization that promotes the hunting and shooting sports, with an emphasis on safety. The total value of this Scholarship will be one thousand dollars ($1000.00). Scholarship candidates can be any student scheduled to graduate from High School in 2023, whose parent or grandparent is a WSC Member in good standing. Preference may be given to students entering: Conservation, Environmental Sciences, and Law Enforcement. An interview with the WSC Scholarship Committee may be necessary. Red Mountain Lodge #68 F A.M. Carol A. Wyman Memorial Scholarship:

This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors of the communities of Sandwich and Moultonborough. Carol valued education and charity to her fellow man, which are both also core tenets of Freemasonry. The award will go to that student who has not only an excellent academic record, but has also recognized the importance of service to others. Students applying for this scholarship must have declared a major at an accredited college or university in a “service degree” examples of this would be but not limited to: education, human services, criminal justice, fire science, counseling/ psychology, and divinity.

• Students will be required to write and submit a minimum of a 1000 word essay that demonstrates their financial need, their current academic status, outlines their service to their community, and their career plan upon graduation.
• Preference will be given to those who have a parent or grandparent who are currently active Freemasons and/or Order of the Eastern Star.

The Latchkey Cup Scholarship:

This scholarship is open to any senior from the Lakes Region who plans on continuing their education at the college of their choice. Applicants must be attending ILHS, KRHS, MA or beyond, or any members or immediate family of any member of the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club will be considered.
